In 2021, SIBELCO’s Brazilian unit faced accelerated wear in one of its quartz mills, with a capacity of 28 tonnes/hour. The deterioration of the previous coating (not supplied by CMC) jeopardized process efficiency and increased the risk of unplanned shutdowns.

• January 2021 – First intervention: Reinforced previous coating → Delayed scheduled shutdown by 6 months
